Course Curriculum
The UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) is a highly competitive and prestigious examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in India. The CSE is divided into three stages:
Preliminary Examination (Prelims): The Preliminary Examination consists of two papers, known as Paper-I and Paper-II.
- Paper-I: This paper is commonly referred to as the General Studies (GS) Paper-I. It tests candidates on various subjects, including History, Geography, Polity, Economy, Science & Technology, Environment, and Current Affairs.
- Paper-II: This paper is often referred to as the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) Paper. It assesses the candidates’ aptitude in areas like comprehension, interpersonal skills, communication, logical reasoning, analytical ability, decision-making, problem-solving, data interpretation, and general mental ability.
- Main Examination (Mains): The Main Examination consists of nine papers in total, including two qualifying papers in an Indian language and English. The remaining seven papers are assessed for ranking purposes and cover various subjects, including Essay, General Studies (GS), and Optional Subjects.
- Personality Test (Interview): Candidates who clear the Mains examination are called for a Personality Test (Interview), where they are assessed on their personality, communication skills, and suitability for a career in the Indian Civil Services.
Regarding your question about CSAT GS-2 Math, it’s important to note that as of my last knowledge update in September 2021, UPSC CSAT (Paper-II) does not specifically test mathematical skills. The CSAT Paper focuses on assessing the candidate’s aptitude in various areas such as comprehension, logical reasoning, analytical ability, decision-making, problem-solving, data interpretation, and general mental ability.
However, the nature of the UPSC examination can change over time, so it’s possible that there have been updates or changes to the examination pattern or syllabus since my last knowledge update. To get the most accurate and up-to-date information about the UPSC CSE, including the CSAT GS-2 Paper, I recommend visiting the official UPSC website or referring to the latest UPSC examination notification or syllabus.
Candidates preparing for UPSC CSE should also consider enrolling in coaching programs or using reliable study materials to prepare comprehensively for both the Preliminary and Main examinations, as the competition is intense, and the syllabus is extensive.
